Vintage Charm + Organic Touches = Classic, Sustainable Elegance

On Sunday June 26th, 2011 I had the pleasure of not only designing the wedding of Susan Gunn and Daniel Gerson but attending it as well. The Hudson Valley setting for this special day was at the beautiful Highlands, Country Club in Garrison, NY. Textured bouquets of peony, calla lilies, lambs ears and more created a soft vintage feel. The programs were printed on recycled paper with embedded seeds for direct planting and the bride and groom donated to a very speacial enviromental cause they are truly passionate about.

Long time no blog……

Every year all of us in the wedding industry get ourselves geared up for “the Season”. Basically, every May, June,( as well as September and October!) are world-winds of  envisioning, designing,  ordering, and sampling all of the design elements leading up to my client’s “BIG DAY”. But in busy season I can have as many as 3 or 4 weddings in a week that I put all my time, energy and attention towards. Unfortunately, my time becomes limited and fun stuff  like writing on my blog go by the wayside. But recently, a dear friend of mine was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is young, beautiful and in the prime of her life. Even though she has a mastectomy pending with chemotherapy to follow she is more passionate than ever about sharing her thoughts, journey and creativity with all who will listen. This friend has been quietly  whispering in my ear for me to get back to doing “my thing”. That “thing” is in part writing my blog and sharing my knowledge with any and all who are interested. Time is precious but it’s not guaranteed. So here I am ready, willing and able to write and there is no time like the present! Thanks for the push, Ms. Aylen Kinka Doucette. I love you.xoxox
