The Palm House at Brooklyn Botanical Gardens

Miller & Bloomgarden Wedding by Ali Barone Events

6.29.13

The sun was out with not a cloud in the sky, a perfect day for a wedding. Our wonderful couple, Lauren and Zach, stood side by side all day through their photographs, to the chuppah and even as they shared their delicious treat at the end of the night—a true sign of their love and devotion.

The Brooklyn Botanical Gardens served as a beautiful background for their ceremony in “the meadows,” giving a secret garden feel. It was a magical moment when it all came together, from Pedestals floral décor to Laurens graceful walk down the aisle. It truly was a sight to see and photographer, Shari of Brett Matthews photography and her brilliant team, captured every moment.

We also loved how Lacey, the family dog, got to walk down the aisle as flower girl, too cute!As the heartfelt ceremony came to an end, the ABE team dried their eyes and prepared for the rest of the evening’s festivities.  Luckily, as the sun went down so did the temperature and everyone was finally able to cool off with a refreshing drink from cocktail hour by the serene reflecting pool and fountain.

Finally, for the first time, Lauren and Zach were introduced as man and wife and the Dylan Mathews Band of Hank Lane kicked off the night with a bang! The transition from cocktail hour to the reception blew the guests away with the gorgeous floral centerpieces, the romantic glow from all the candles and the blend of light pinks and ivories even tied into the 5 tiered cake!

The crowd was lively and by the end of the night they weren’t ready to end the celebration. Fortunately, Zach and Lauren knew their guests well and set up a surprise treat outside for everyone on their way out. They all loved the Wafels & Dinges truck! It was a delicious, personal touch that everyone enjoyed and a memorable conclusion to an extraordinary evening.

It was a pleasure collaborating with everyone involved in this production process. We all worked hard to give Lauren and Zach their dream wedding.

Another flawless day with a beautiful couple and their families.

Mozel Tov!

Backyard Wedding Bliss

Looking for a intimate setting for your wedding day? A backyard can be the perfect location!  It offers a special place for the bride and groom to say “I do” and allows flexibility in an environment you control.

Keep in mind that the amount of people on your guest list will depend on the size of your backyard space as well.  You don’t want your guests to feel confined or restricted.

If you have the room, we suggest you rent an elegant tent so that there is somewhere to go if it begins to rain. You don’t want your guests running to your house for shelter!

Long tables work perfectly for a larger guest list and they really bring everyone together for a traditional, “family style” celebration. We also recommend using the outdoors to your advantage. Use the trees to string up bistro lights to set a romantic ambiance for your guests.

Have a swimming pool? Dress it up with floating candles or flower petals.

Since you saved your money by using your backyard as the wedding venue, consider spending on a fantastic live band and delicious catering. A great party should always have excellent music to dance to and food good enough to ask for seconds.

When it comes time to consider where your wedding will take place, remember that a backyard wedding doesn’t always have to be casual or rustic. Depending on the decor, any theme can be pulled off. With the flexibility of a backyard wedding, you don’t have to add too much because nature serves as a beautiful backdrop.

Veils and Bridal Headpieces: What Will You Wear?

As soon as they find their perfect dress, most brides are on the hunt for their veil. Will it be a bird cage or a bouffant style? Will you add a blusher to your veil? Or maybe you’re looking for something more dramatic, like a chapel or cathedral veil. Sometimes brides go with no veil and choose a stunning headpiece instead. Which style will you choose?

To make the hunt easier, we suggest you pick your head-ware based off of the theme or style of your wedding!

For the trendy vintage style wedding, a birdcage veil would be perfect. Immerse yourself in this theme by wearing your hair in pin curls and applying your favorite shade of red to your lips!

For the hippy-chic wedding, forget the veil and wear a beautiful floral crown. Have the flowers match your wedding colors or to keep it simple, wear a daisy chain crown.

If you’re looking for elegance and romance, then the long, dramatic cathedral veil is for you! Of course, if you find the cathedral veil to be too long, the chapel style veil will still provide the drama you’re looking for but feel more manageable with a shorter length.

Feeling retro? The bouffant style veil was quite popular in the eighties but it’s making a comeback! With it’s multiple layers, this veil gives volume and can work for a fun, playful bride.

And finally, if you’re looking to simply show off your amazing hairstyle, we recommend the fashion forward look of a headband.

Whichever you choose, you want it to be comfortable and feel “right” so try on several styles . But most importantly, your veil or headpiece is like “the icing on the cake”, and the ultimate finishing touch to your perfect bridal look so don’t be afraid to try on as many styles as possible WHILE trying on your dress of choice. Chances are the right one will be an obvious choice!

Brotherhood Winery Wedding in NY’s Hudson Valley- Briana & Rob 9.22.12

So what do you get when you have a bride who is an amazingly talented graphic designer who just so happens to look like she came from the pages of the latest fashion magazine? You get the most creative, designer touches on all paper products from the invites & reply cards to the table numbers and programs. PLUS a stunning, awe-inspiring old Hollywood look that is absolutely  flawless from head to toe.

Ali Barone Events not only had the pleasure of helping to coordinate all of the logistics and details of Bri & Rob’s big day but also helped set the stage by providing our decorating services. The day’s threatening weather and light passing showers proved to be a bit of a challenge with it all. However, we got it done without allowing it to dampened anybody’s spirits on this truly beautiful & joyous occasion.

A special thanks to Kimberly Coccagnia for her beautiful photos, Annalise and the entire catering team at Lola’s Cafe for an amazing job with the food, Diana Gould Ltd. for the lovely flowers & decor, Sudz + Ink for all the crazy cool stationary items and The Brotherhood Winery for it’s picturesque venue.
