When nursery rhymes and desperate wishes don’t stop the wet weather from pouring down on your wedding day, it’s time to embrace mother nature for whatever she brings.
But first, there are a couple of important tips to remember when you face the chance of rainy weather. ALWAYS have a back up plan. Have plan b’s for your location, your guests, your pictures, and whatever else that may have to be altered. Don’t take chances. Buy those umbrellas and tents so no one has to run around making last minute plans the day of. Another important thing is to make the decision early on. It can be a hard decision to make but your vendors need the time to make the day just as perfect as it would be without the weather change. Trust your vendors’ advice, they’ve done this before!
And our final advice… get excited! Maybe it won’t be the wedding you imagined, but there are so many ways to make a rainy wedding the wedding of your dreams. And ABE is here to show you how…
Tents can be beautiful. Lots of lights will make it glow and give you a fun party space.
Get some rain boots to keep dry in style.
Umbrellas! For you and your guests. Go with vintage white…
…or color to match your theme…
…or how about this gorgeous clear umbrella from Etsy.com with your new initials.
For many people a wedding is not just about the bride and groom. It’s about two families coming together. Give a special thanks and tribute to those family members who’ve supported and loved you with these lovely ideas.

Remember the more extravagant the better!“I like large parties. They’re so intimate.” -F.Scott Fitzgerald
I’ve never been a big fan of short bridal dresses. For me I just figured it’s one of the few occasions you can wear a ground skimming gown and feel like… well like a star! I also don’t quite get the multiple costume changes. Once you find THE dress you should be so madly in love with it that you never want to take it off. Especially after only a couple of hours.
Well, after this years New York Bridal Fashion Week I have to say…I may be converting! I am now an absolute believer in short wedding attire and gown changes! This year many designers featured higher hem lines that were amazing to say the least. I fell in love with the flirty, funky, flare and now can understand why some brides chose the shorter look. As for the multiple wedding ensembles, lets face it, sometimes we just can’t decide. Why should we?? We can’t help it if we fall madly in love with multiple looks. Who says you can’t have your princess gown AND dancing-queen dress?? It’s your big day, have your cake and eat it too!
Here are a few of ABE favorites…
Marchesa / Monique Lhuillier / Rafael Cennamo / Reem Acra
Last week was New York Bridal Fashion Week where all the top, new designers showed off their Spring/Summer 2014 collections. Here at ABE we went through thousands of dresses (our favorite kind of work!) to pick out our favorites and show you! There were so many trends to choose from: back detailing, capes, sleeves, and more. We chose to focus on a truly tasteful trend: lace. It’s so beautiful and we love how it can be either classic or modern. What do you think of our top picks?
Oscar de la Renta
This season Oscar de la Renta’s gowns were classic, pretty, and elegant. Many of them have sleeves that add a delicate feminine touch. We had a hard time choosing which ones to show.
Romona Keveza was another designer with classic styles from mermaid dresses to full princess styles and everything in between. We love the little details of all her dresses like the peekaboo lace on the top of the first dress or the beautiful one shoulder style of the middle one.
Reem Acra & Marchesa
Reem Acra- These gowns are all about edgy feminine styles. This dress is great for brides who love taking fashion risks!
Marchesa- Of course we had to include another favorite: Marchesa. This collection featured a lot of modest styles, which happens to be another big trend this year. This dress is one of the less covered styles with gorgeous lace sleeves that flow into a stunning cape.
Robert Bullock & Nicole Miller
Robert Bullock- The perfect collection for the girly girl. He designs those dresses you dream of as a little girl and then adds a surprising detail like this deep slit. He knows how to make brides look sexy and classy.
Nicole Miller- Nicole Miller’s cut out dress with lace is sexy with out being too much. Another designer that perfects making gowns stunning yet classy.
